TWITTER INTERFACE
LiveConductor's interface with Twitter provides a no-cost way to test and run messaging applications that reuse your existing Web content.
You create a Twitter username that you want to represent your content. We then use the direct message feature of Twitter as a 'command line' from which the application server receives its instructions. For example, you might have some great quotations content to offer. Another Twitter user sends you a direct message:
d quotebot newton
('quotebot' is your application's username.) LiveConductor reads this command and selects your application. It 'sideloads' your quotes RSS feed then extracts and formats a quote about Newton and sends it back to the requesting Twitter user:
direct from quotebot:
"Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton was the one who asked why."
This behaviour is all configured within the hosted application server and there is zero development required on your site. As long as you have an RSS feed you're good to go!
As a full-featured product, LiveConductor is capable of running more sophisticated applications than this simple case. For example, it can combine several feeds in a mashup or create multi-message responses. It can programmatically vary responses according to the content or timing of a request. So that you know what's going on, it provides RSS feeds of requests for each application you create.
What's more, any applications developed for Twitter can be seamlessly opened up to our other mobile interfaces!
